Welcome to the SAFENUT Project Website

The aim of the SAFENUT project is to enhance the characterization, preservation and utilization of the European hazelnut and almond germplasm, through the recovery and valorisation of local endangered varieties in the traditional productive areas of the Mediterranean basin.

Two Biodiversity related Events in Brussels in November 2009

The Biodiversity Research Conference was held on November 4, 2009 at the European Parliament in Brussels.
This event was organised also by the Brussels ENEA office, under the patronage of STOA (Science and Technology Options Assessment Panel). A poster depicting aims and results of the SAFENUT was presented.

On 4-6 November Brussels hosted the METIER (METhods in Interdisciplinary Environmental Research) Final Conference on “Climate – Water – Biodiversity – Land Use”, where a poster of the SAFENUT Project was also displayed

Fifth International Symposium of Pistachios and Almonds, 6-10 October 2009, Sanliurfa, Turkey.

In the framework of the V International Symposium of Pistachios and Almonds, 6-10 October 2009, Sanliurfa, Turkey, Partner 5, Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA) presented a poster on ”The definition of the European almond core collection”.

With some delay we published the Executive Summary of our second year Technical Report.

This short document synthesizes the activity and the achievements of the second year (April 2008-March 2009) of the SAFENUT Project broken down by Work package.
